Availability List For Friday July 21

Posted 7/18/2017 1:14pm by Natalie Kujala.

Greetings, Taylor writing today. For some reason, I really enjoy writing the cover letter. It may be because it makes me feel more like a member of the office team. Also, it could be that for this sales period, I get to use my voice and/or writing to reach out to our customers. I guess I am trying to say that I appreciate working for TOG, where so many people here have already taught me so much. I am feeling grateful today, if you can tell. On a outdoorsy note, this evening, I will continue my swimming streak at the Raystown Lake. There is an old orchard with a lakeside view that is just a few minutes from my house. This is where my friends and I swim to our hearts content. There are even black and red raspberries that line the walkway to the lake.

HIGHLIGHTS:

WILD CHANTERELLES: This week we are offering wild, foraged chanterelles, from non-certified organic land, in one-pound cases. Please inquire if you are interested!

CELERY REMINDER:  An exciting addition to our list! New Morning Farm (right up the lane from our warehouse) has long ago cracked the code to organically raising this tricky crop. If you are hoping for a taste of these crunchy stalks, order for Friday delivery, and order early.

BELL PEPPERS: These beauties have arrived. A few of our Amish growers and one of our English growers are offering them this week. We are offering a few different colors and pack sizes. Especially for the non-green bell peppers, please order as soon as you can. I have been adding the green bells to my salads, which adds a nice crunch.

KOHLRABI:  Tony, from Green Heron Farm, and Eric, of Shoestring Acres, grow these for us. We would love to see how you use these, so please tag us on Instagram! I have started eating these raw with just a little bit of salt.

CARROTS GALORE: Our summer carrots have arrived in number and in various colors. Last night, I made hummus with carrots for the first time. Since I started adding carrots to my hummus, I can never go back. I like the color it adds as well as the flavor!

HEIRLOOM TOMATOES: Their color has finally turned! We would love to see these in your recipes and on your shelves. Please let us know how many cases you would like.

NON-ORGANIC, ALL NATURAL LOCAL CHICKEN EGGS: AVAILABLE IN MEDIUM, LARGE AND EXTRA-LARGE, 15 DOZEN BULK.   PLEASE CALL TIM DERSTINE AT HARES VALLEY GROWERS AT 814 448 2784 FOR GREAT EGG PRICES.
