For Tuesday February 21st
Does everyone else have spring fever as bad as I do?? I’m SO EXCITED for the warm weather that this weekend will bring. I can’t wait to take my pups on a much deserved hike, do a little cleanup in my garden beds, and just overall enjoy the 60-degree days! And, the even more exciting news about this warm weather is that it will bring us more baby greens! We should see a long-awaited good supply of baby greens later this week, so keep your eye on the Friday list when it comes out!
BUTTERNUTS: Say whaaaat?! Butternuts?! Don’t be alarmed. We thought these were done for the season too, but we got a very pleasant, unexpected offer from Jay Martin in Selinsgrove, PA. We should have these on our list for a couple of sales days, but don’t wait too long to order these. They could disappear as quickly as they reappeared!
JERUSALEM ARTICHOKES: If you’re looking for a little variation in your potato routine, try subbing in some sunchokes! These crunchy little veggies can be roasted, baked, steamed, or fried.
YACON: Speaking of fun, crunchy veggies, have you ever tried yacon?? Yacons are surprisingly sweet and reminiscent of eating a Granny Smith apple mixed with celery, with the feel of a water chestnut (if that makes sense!). I prefer to eat them raw. I simply peel back the skin and chop them into my salad.
RADISHES: We have purple, we have black Spanish, we have watermelon, green meat, mixed variety, daikon, purple daikon, and red. Whew! What a list. All shapes and sizes, all colors and tastes. You want radishes, we’ve got ‘em!
NON-ORGANIC, ALL NATURAL LOCAL CHICKEN EGGS: AVAILABLE IN MEDIUM, LARGE AND EXTRA-LARGE, 15 DOZEN BULK. PLEASE CALL TIM DERSTINE AT HARES VALLEY GROWERS AT 814 448 2784 FOR GREAT EGG PRICES.
